With the commitment of leaving no one behind, Junior Achievement Uganda (JA Uganda) has for the first time conducted a four-day bootcamp for the Social Equity Program (SEP) in Bududa district.
The bootcamp that ran between Monday 29th to Thursday 1st July, 2024 brought together participants from the districts of Bududa, Manafwa and Namisindwa.
It should be noted that Budada is rated as a hard-to-reach district in Uganda, and it has suffered a number of problems, ranging from landslides, access to education, poor road network, poor access to Sexual Reproductive Health services, access to clean water, among others.
During the bootcamp co-organized by Junior Achievement Uganda and the Alington Academy of Hope and Reach for Uganda Foundation, participants were encouraged to develop social impact projects, some of which focused on addressing challenges such as poor road network, school drop outs, environment pollution, among others.
Daniel Kahuka, one of the participants says he has been empowered to generate ideas that help transform his community.
According to him, he never thought that a social entrepreneurship project would have any monetary or financial benefit, but just charity.
Hon Nandala Mafabi, a Member of Parliament in Budadiri County, Sironko district, who paid a courtesy visit to the training, expressed his impression and shared his insights with our participants for the recently conducted Social Equity Program in Bududa district.
Hon. Nandala shared his entrepreneurship experience with participants, encouraging them to pay attention to honesty, financial discipline, and time keeping.
In his presentation, he also pledged to be an ambassador for the working projects that participants pitched.
