JA programs help to prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth & effectively manage it, how to create jobs that make their communities more robust, & how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
The JA Company Program is the flagship program of Junior Achievement. The model helps young people aged 13-18 appreciate and better understand the role of business in our society. With the support and guidance of volunteers from the local business community, JA Company Program provides basic economic education for high school students. It unlocks the innate ability in high school students to fill a need or solve a problem in their community by launching a business venture and unleashing their entrepreneurial spirit.
At the JA Innovation Camp, students gather in order to address a specific business challenge derived by a partnering company/business and come up with ideas which solve the problem. It is an intense experience for the students since they have to propose solutions within a very limited time, given access to tools, information and resources. The students can foster an understanding of the world of work and a spirit of entrepreneurship through the principle of “Learning by Doing”.
Cha-Ching is a financial literacy Programme designed to equip 9 to 11-year-olds with the knowledge, tools and practice they need to make informed financial decisions to reach their own personal goals and dreams.
The Cha-Ching School Curriculum targets primary school students and adopts a modular development approach to allow flexibility of educators and students to “mix and match” lessons that best support local requirements. Six lesson plans of 45 minutes each are designed to run either as stand-alone sequential programs or independently as additional learning that can be added to any school program. Each lesson’s structure includes learning activities based on the Cha-Ching program, a cartoon, and a board game.
The JA Job Shadow is one of JA’s work exemplifier that gives students a day at real work-places where they are paired with partner organization staff-right from CEOs, Heads of Departments to retail outlets to explore their career aspirations.
The Camp aims at grooming and inspiring JA participants to appreciate, aspire and qualify for senior leadership positions in their future careers. Leadership in this case, is mainly geared towards business management for example as Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, Branch Managers, and Human Resource officers among others.
