VIRTUAL COMPANY OF THE YEAR (COY) COMPETITION

  1. Preamble:

On the 7th June 2021, the government of Uganda once again ordered the closure of schools, as a measure towards mitigating COVID 19 infections.

Implementation of the Project Management Integrated company program funded by Project Management Institute Education Foundation (PMIEF) had commenced in a number of schools.

Ever since the schools were closed, implementation continued virtually and there has been close coordination with the learners and the Patrons in the participating schools.

Like last year, because of COVID 19 pandemic in the nation and the world at large, this year’s Company of the year (COY) competitions will be held virtually.

There will be no physical meeting and everything will done online.

We therefore take this opportunity to congratulate the learners who have endeavored to continue with the project management integrated company program implementation despite the challenges brought about by COVID -19 pandemic.

  1. About the competition;

JA COY competitions is a premier pitch completion for secondary school students who have completed the JA flagship company program.

The event brings together students from all participating schools to compete in teams of 4-5 students (shareholders). Judges asses the level of business skills, ingenuity, leadership skills and Innovation.

Following the COVID 19 pandemic restrictions JA Uganda is pivoting for a virtual competition. Teams will participate in the competition without having to meet physically as has always been the case.

This will be a four stage process;

  1. 4th -18th August 2021: Students will register online for the competitions.
  2. 19th August – 1st September 2021: Registered teams will submit their business concepts online.
  3. 2nd - 8th September 2021: Panel of Judges Review concepts and shortlist teams to continue to the next stage.
  4. Saturday 18th September 2021: Final competition day - teams pitch their business ideas online.

The event will be broad cast live on JA Uganda’s social media platforms.
